Big Dirt, one of Seattle's best kept secrets, plays rockin' alt-Americana served up with groovin' mando-sax goodness. With a new lineup of veterans from the local rock and national jazz scenes, the latest incarnation features founding guitarist/songwriter, UW professor, and MacArthur "genius" Dave Montgomery along with Dan "the mandolinian" Brown, Bryan Ubaghs on drums, Gary Ehret on bass, and Leonard Sklar on saxophone. Their sound blends Classic Rock, Alt-Americana, and New Country with hints of Blues and Bluegrass to shape a fresh harmony rich, electro-acoustic sound. Their live sets mix their healthy catalog of originals with new takes on classics by The Band, Gordon Lightfoot, Grateful Dead, Son Volt, Patty Griffin and others.
